Feeling Festive!

December is somehow here, and that obviously means Christmas is just around the corner (just over two weeks away now!). It's pretty hard to escape the festive cheer, what with decorations popping up here, there and everywhere, christmas tunes playing in shops, and festive adverts gracing themselves on our television screens. But, if like me, you feel a bit closer to muttering Scrooge's 'Bah Humbug' than shouting Buddy the Elf's 'Santa's coming, I know him!', i've put together a few festive treats that sure to spread the Christmas spirit! From some of my festive foodie favourites to indulgent treats and a few traditional favourites, hopefully these will add a bit of warmth to a wintry afternoon and get you excited for the next two weeks!

PJs, Socks & Nail Wraps: Topshop | Jumper: Asda | Bath Bomb & Body Wash: Body Shop | Lip Sticks: Soap & Glory | Earrings: Tatty Devine
I don't know about you, but adding little bits of Christmas into my outfits (not too subtly though) has definitely made me much more excited about the upcoming festivities. I think i've found my favourite ever Christmas jumper in the form of this pudding beauty from Asda, and these Ski themed PJ's are definitely going on my gift list to snuggle in after one too many mince pies and jam tarts! Or if venturing out in your tackiest festive jumper isn't your cup of tea, how about slipping on a pair of these Topshop socks, or embellishing your nails with these uber-cute Christmas characters or Festive Fairisle nail-wraps? Additionally, for added festive-ness, how about the Body Shop snowman bathbombs and special range of gingerbread and cinnamon scented goodies for some winter pampering?

Paper Chains: Dotcomgiftshop | Wall Advent Calendar: Notonthehighstreet
Now there's nothing better at getting you into the Christmas spirit than a good ol' festive song! Even though most of them make me want to shove snow down my ears, I really could listen to the She & Him Christmas Volume all year round, it's also provides the perfect soundtrack for putting up the decorations to! Mollie Makes and Cath Kidston both have lovely books filled with ideas for creating your own Christmas decorations, gifts and other homely goodies, all of which I want to try my hand at. Additionally, I'm looking forward to snuggling down with one of my favourite traditional Christmas stories by Charles Dickens, accompanied with a hot chocolate, of course!

Christmas Tea & Coffee: Betty's and Taylor's | Iced Biscuits: Biscuiteers | Crumpets & Waffles: Asda
Now onto the real treats, Christmas really wouldn't be the same without food, and masses of it. As it's not quite time to be gorging on pigs in blankets, mince pies and one-too-many Ferrero Rochers, how about swapping some ordinary favourites with specially shaped goodies, like these christmas tree crumpets and waffle stars from Asda (smothering them in Nutella is how I'd serve them, ha!). I've always wanted a box of Christmas biscuits from Biscuiteers, all beautifully iced, decorated and served in the cutest tins, I think they would go perfectly with a Christmas blend of tea or coffee from Betty's!

Everybody Wants to Rule the World

Hello! Hope you are all enjoying this extra chilly weather? I love it and just want it to be even colder now so I can wrap up in gloves, scarves and lots of chunky knits. Anyway, this outfit is pretty odd for me, in that even a few months ago I was a staunch enemy of the roll-neck and was convinced that I would never be seen wearing one, and yet here I am. And I have to say, I wish I could wear one everyday! Additionally, maybe I've been watching just a few too many old-school Friends episodes lately, with Monica and Rachel being able to rock them with just about everything. Wearing them with my new Topshop trousers (which I can't get enough of!) I have to admit to feeling a bit more manly Beatnik-style than usual, especially paired with my new Chelsea boots that I spied on the beautiful Jazmine!

Now that i've got a lot more free time I'm really trying to get myself into blogging more, I really miss updating it a lot more frequently! Is there anything you would like to see more/less of on here? I realise that photo's of just me in my clothes can be a little boring, huh?! Although, I've got quite a few outings coming up that I can't wait to share with you all, think Christmas crafts and festivities!

You and Me Could've Been a Team, Each Had a Half of a King and Queen Seat

Now, I can already tell that this is going to be one of my favourite outfits this autumn. I've been coveting a tartan skirt for a while now, and as I was constantly eyeing up this perfect little pastel number whilst at work, it was never going to end well. You probably already know by now that the 60's is by far my favourite era, and I try to emulate the sixties sirens at every available chance I get (more often than not, failing), so it was only natural that this A-line plaid beauty would fall into my 'work' uniform. Paired with a high-neck blouse and loafers, I probably look a bit more OTT than Carey Mulligan in An Education, but I can only dream!

Anyway, enough of my silly ramblings about clothes, I hope everyone kept safe during last night's storm. We managed to escape with one broken tree down here, but the train lines didn't seem to fare so well; my station was closed till nearly 2pm with no sign of any improvement. It seems strange that a season that is filled with the death and drying of nature can be so beautiful, but it is by far my favourite of them all; the autumnal hues, nights drawing in and chills in the air, I wish it could stay like this forever (even if it does mean indulging in one too many hot-chocolates and toffee apples!).

Memories Take Me Back to All of The Wildest Times

Hello, and once again it is Sunday evening! The weekend really does fly by, doesn't it? I've been meaning to share these photo's for a while now, but have been pretty reluctant as i'm not overly keen on them. A few weekends back, I spent my Saturday with the beauties that are Dunya, Olivia and Carrie, eating delicious (and pretty) food in Bill's, chatting over our Rosemary bread and my pink lemonade float, and of course, taking blog photo's! I have to admit, taking outfit photo's is definitely not one of my strongest points. I'm only used to a very select few being behind the camera, so with my nervousness plus a very busy London street cue me looking extremely awkward and ordinary amongst some very cool ladies!

But anyway, i've got my trusty Topshop fluffy pink jumper on that seems to be everyone's favourite this winter. It's cosy, cropped, pink and fluffy, what more could you want? It seems to go with just about everything in my wardrobe, (or maybe that's just me hoping it does!?) so it'd be silly not to venture to some of the other colours available, right? I threw it over another new favourite of mine, my sixties-style dress with it's high-collar, A-line shape and crochet detail, of course taking inspiration from my favourite era, whilst trying (and failing) to emulate it. Pink seemed to be the go-to colour that day, as we were all showcasing some sort of rosy hue!

Honey, I'm not your Honey Pie

Hello there! Long time no see. I've been settling into working a 9.30-5.30 day, and as it's already dark when I get back home, spending the evening on my laptop after a whole day of staring at a screen is not really ideal. But I've really missed blogging, and it means a lot to me, so I need to force myself to get back into the swing of things, even if that does mean going to bed a little later than 10.30 (I'm too old before my time!).
A couple of weeks ago I got these Levi 501's from Brag Vintage, and to be honest I initially had no clue what to wear with them. The high-waisted 'mom' jeans are something that I'd had my eye on for a while, always envying the girls that could wear them without looking anything like a throwback from the 90's or an American mum, but then I thought 'What Would Alexa Do?'. Of course, throw on a stripy t-shirt and be done with it! I now actually love these jeans, especially as they are flatteringly high-waisted, fitted and loose in all the right places, if you know what I mean. I wore them with my new Topshop boots (which are pretty much stuck to my feet) for good measure, to give me that little bit of extra height, and hopefully I can just about pull them off.
Anyway, is everyone else as addicted to the new Haim album as I am?! God, how I wish I could be the fourth member of their effortlessly cool, long-haired club. We can all dream, right?
Thank you for sticking around this month, I so badly want to keep this blog up, so keep your eyes peeled!

Friday Delights Pt. 1 - Tea

charlestown vintage english tea
I don't know about you, (well, it probably is only just me), but I love looking at other people's food. I realise that sounds pretty weird, but I do enjoy reading (and let's face it, drooling) about favourite eateries, cakes and burgers etc, on any and every social media platform. If it is a blog post, I will bookmark it, an instagram and i'll screenshot and save it for later when I'm feeling peckish, ha. At the moment for me, it's all about the 'cronut', I must have one!
So I thought, as someone that loves nothing better than spending an hour or two trying out a new place to eat, or finding happiness simply in a lovely mug or china plate, why not share my favourite haunts and findings with others, as I'm sure there are plenty of other self-confessed foodies out there! Plus, it gives me a good excuse to finally visit all places that Kent and London have to offer which I am yet to visit. So first up...

Tea. Heaven in a cup, put simply. It's something that every Brit loves (I hope!) and, if like me, simply cannot do without. However, I've never really tried anything other than my beloved standard English Breakfast. 'Not even green tea?' I hear you gasp, I realise that there is so much more that tea has to offer, and it's only a teacup away. So when I received a selection of flavoured teas from The English Tea Shop from my aunt and uncle, I couldn't wait to put the kettle on, and share some of my new-found favourite tea flavours with you.
In the prettily detailed tin came a selection of six flavours: Black Tea Chai - English Breakfast - Peppermint - Chocolate, Rooibos & Vanilla - Lemongrass, Ginger & Citrus - Earl Grey.
Now first off, I love fruit. Love, love, love it, so how bad could a fruit tea be?! But as refreshing Lemongrass, Ginger & Citrus is, I always find that fruit teas are never as tasty or fruity as they smell, maybe i'll stick to them when trying to be extra healthy or when ill...
Now Peppermint, bleugh. As badly as I wanted to love it, I'd much rather brush my teeth or have a chewing gum!
I was happily surprised with the Chocolate, Rooibos & Vanilla and Black Tea Chai, both not bland or too different from English Brekkie, but still interesting and a tasty alternative, especially as you can have both with or without milk. But then, if you're going to have a chocolate tea, you might as well go all out and have a hot chocolate, right?!
I have to admit that I will still be sticking to my good ol' English Breakfast with the occasional Earl Grey, as boring as that sounds! But there's just nothing better than a well-earned cup of tea after a day of work, or just before bed with lots of biscuits, and I think you will all agree!

Simmer Down and Pucker Up

charlestown vintage outfit

Hello! Can anyone else quite believe that the Bank Holiday is over? Nope, me neither, but somehow it is! This weekend has flown by, once again, but a lovely one it has been! What with trips up to the Natural History Museum, gorging on Shake Shack, visiting one too many tearooms and eating my weight in popcorn on the settee, this weekend has been a pretty special one, even if I can feel a pre-winter diet coming on ha! What did you all get up to over the weekend? Hope the storms on Saturday didn't ruin everything for you!

I started my internship at Darling last week and I really feel like i've just fit right in with the team. I wore this skirt on my first day, and forgot just how pretty it was! Do you ever have a piece of clothing that you find tucked away at the back of your wardrobe and can't wait to start pairing it with things? It's like a nice little surprise, especially as you look at it with a fresh eye and can then be a little more inventive.
I know, I know, I have an abundance of bags, for every occasion, every colour, every size. But did I have a small, waterproof backpack that was perfect for spending all day traipsing around the Orlando theme parks with? Well, I do now! After spending a lot of time debating over which size to get (classic or mini), trying them on, reading reviews, watching youtube videos, I decided on the 'Mini'. It may look pretty small, but I can promise you, it really is just like Mary Poppins' bag - my DSLR with it's massive lens fits with plenty of room to spare. I'll post a blog showing what I took with me to Florida in this little mint-beauty this week, if you'll be interested?

I'm feeling a little naffed off with my blog lately, and think it can be a lot more interesting and different than it is, so what do you think I could do to improve on here? Let me know what you think, I promise I won't be offended. (I hope, anyway!)

Never a frown, with Golden Brown

As much as I love my good ol' Topshop and Urban Outfitters, it's the little boutiques selling special pieces that you may not find anywhere else that really stand out. In the picturesque village of West Malling in Kent, there resides the delightful little shop that is Fragolina. Having never been there before, I was astounded that I had never visited the treasure trove selling Louche dresses, old school style bags and pug jewellery (need I say more?), especially as I live so close by! Plus, the owner is so friendly. (I want her Italian accent, shh!) I came away with this handmade(!) cameo ring, and real leather bag, which is the perfect size to fit everything needed during the day, and that's coming from a hoarder! Fragolina sell my bag in nearly every colour you could imagine, and in different sizes too, I've got my eyes on a red one next.

My blog posts may be a little on the sporadic side for a while, as I've started my internship today at Darling. The clothes are beautiful, the people friendly and the building lovely, the only downside (for my purse) is that it's next to Topshop and Urban Outfitters. Sorry the outfit is a little plain, but since buying this dress from UO in Orlando I haven't taken it off. It's so comfy and as it goes with everything, I can just chuck it on without thinking twice. I'm thinking of blogging everything that I bought in Florida, from the multi-coloured Mickey Mouse bracelet in these photo's, to lipsticks that may or may not be available here (i'm useless with make-up). Is that something you would be interested in reading? Or maybe everyone's not as nosey as I am, ha!
Happy Monday, and hope you have a lovely week!
