Summer Florals & a Pearl Peter Pan Collar;

Floral Vest: ASOS ~ High Waist Denim Shorts: Urban Outfitters ~ Brown T-bar Sandals: Urban Outfitters ~ Peter-Pan Pearl Collar: Gift ~ Cat-Eye Sunglasses: H&M
Summer Blues;
Is it bad that I can't wait for the weather to turn a bit more autumnal? Maybe it's because i've spent the last two weeks in a fashion cupboard filled to the brim with burgundy dresses, mustard coloured shirts and wool coats! I also HATE dressing for hot weather, I never know what to wear and i'm useless at figuring out what goes with denim shorts and tiny skirts. I also really don't like having a lot of my body on show as I tend to be pretty self-conscious, so this week later in New York should be fun!
I bought this top in the ASOS sale a couple of months ago, and it was pictured with matching shorts, which I also bought, but I haven't yet gotten round to braving them as a pair, maybe I will in NYC! I'm so excited about visiting the Big Apple, the trip has come around so quickly and i've barely had time to think about it, but i'm looking forward to visiting the museums again, going to the top of the Rockefeller at night and gorging on all of my favourite foods.
Sorry my posts have been a bit hit-and-miss lately, it's because I really don't know how I feel about my blog at the moment. It's not how I want it to be, and I constantly feel disappointed with it. The pictures never end up how I hope, and I never feel that what I do/wear deserves to even be blogged about! There are so many amazing blogs out there, so why should I blog when mine will never even be able to compete. I know it's not all about followers either, but I always get a bit disheartened when I see others with amazing amounts of support that have only just started whilst i've been blogging for nearly a year, and it makes me question whether my blog is actually worth existing - is the content actually interesting enough, pictures enticing? I just don't know how I feel about it, maybe I should just carry on and continue blogging, and hopefully i'll get my inspiration back! But to be completely honest, most of the time blogging just leaves me feeling disheartened, envious and self-conscious.
Thank you to everyone who voted for me in the Cosmo award, they're still open; till the end of September!
Love, Charlestown xoxo.

    I'm quite new to blogging but I discovered your blog a while ago and really inspired me to start my own, it would be such a shame for you to quit it all together- it really is lovely! Hope you feel better about it soon xo

  4. I relate to how you feel about blogging but, rest assured, everyone else loves it even when you don't! We're always our own harshest critics. Lovely lovely outfit too!

  5. You look lovely!! I prefer dressing for Autumn too to be honest, give me layers to play with any day! Sorry to hear how you feel about the blog, I often feel the same... but really your outfits and adventures are just as interesting as anyone elses, why should they not be worth sharing? Why do you want to compete with other blogs anyway? There are some "big" blogs that I find totally boring and dull.. and ones with not many followers that I love! I'm sure you'll get your mojo back soon lovely xxx

  8. Charlie, you have one of the loveliest blogs, and i think your photos are perfect, as are the outfits! Your blog is one of my favourites and i'm constantly checking to see if you've updated! I get what you mean though about feeling disheartened about blogging! I felt like that a few months ago, so i changed my layout etc.. and it really helped!

  14. I know exactly what you mean about summer dressing, I'm a bit fed up of it now, I want woolly tights and leather! Aww I'm really suprised that you feel disappointed with your blog because I think it's lovely and your outfits are adorable and inspiring. I do know what you mean about comparing yourself to other blogs, but I just think there are always going to be those ridiculously perfect blogs and there's no need to compare yourself to them - you still have lots of readers who appreciate your blog! But at the same time blogging should be about enjoyment and if it gets you down you shouldn't force yourself to blog!

  22. Such a sweet outfit charlotte! i know what you mean about the colours for autumn, i'm surrounded by burgandy, purple and mustard and now excited to get out my snuggly knits (actually i do that already!)
    in regards to how you feel on your blog, i don't want to come across harsh.. but you shouldn't be sad that you don't feel like you get the support. because you do, a lot. lots of bloggers like you, and like i've said before, followers and stats should mean nothing. it's nice when we get a new follower etc, but surely it shouldn't make us stop if we had none? we all started blogging because it was something new, and something we enjoy doing, so why shouldn't you keep at it? if you put your passion in it, the post will follow. if you're unsure on how you're feeling, take time out. I know when i was at my lowest and felt so self conscious, i took some time out to focus on me, nobody else, and discover why i felt like that. and since i've come back, i'd like to think i've come back and achieving better than before.
    you have to be passionate about it, and believe in your blog. because if you don't believe in your blog, then will your readers? love and appreciate your blog, and others will too.xxxx

  23. i probably came across really harsh in that comment! i hope i didnt. my problem is, is that i try to tell the truth, even if it may upset people. i didn't want to say anything of a lie. you know i love your blog charlotte, and always try my hardest to help you in anyway i can. i think the problem with bloggers and always will be, is that we constantly, and will keep, comparing ourselves to others.
    but i'm pretty sure that a lot of people out there are comparing you to themselves, thinking exactly the same as you!xxxx

  24. Lovely outfit, would love to see the matching shorts sometime too! I absolutely love your blog, and from the comments above a lot of other people seem to as well. Have an amazing time in New York, I'm insanely jealous.

  25. ahh love you definitely shouldn't feel disheartened, your blog is more than lovely! there are that many blogs out there that it's natural to compare yourself.. I do it all the time! I'm a bit of a perfectionist so if something isn't right or not as good as somebody elses I can't help but feel down haha! p.s you look blummin' lovely. :) x

  28. cute top! i saw the set on asos too but i didn't think i could pull it off, but it looks lovely on you! i hope you have an amazing time in new york, i'm so jealous!!

    & i used to have similar feelings about blogging over the years (i've been on different platforms since probably 2004) but in the end i stick with it as a creative outlet for myself moreso than anything else, and as a great way to make friends with lovely people with similar interests around the world. it doesn't matter if it's the most famous blog in the world with 50,000 followers or if your only readers are a couple of friends, it should ultimately be a way of expressing yourself that makes you happy and that's why you do it.

  29. Hi Charlie,

    For someone who's not used to dressing for the warm weather, you've done an excellent job! :) I love your pearl collar and cat-eye sunglasses.

  31. I've been blogging for over a year now, way over and only have 148 followers, so you shouldn't be complaining about that! Never apologise for not posting either, sometimes you need a break and a complete rethink. I had one recently and I've decided to not look at my stats, not participate in #bbloggers as it feels like people are telling me how to blog and to write whatever the heck I want! I'm a recentish follower of your blog but you had me hooked from your first post about how you had afternoon tea and since then whenever you appear on my dashboard I always check it out and read your lovely words. I love you balance outfits (I don't follow many fashion blogs) with well written words and updates. Take your time and make sure you're happy with how its going, we all can't wait for you to feel back on track :) xxx

  34. I mean that your blog IS amazing, I've started follow your the other day, but I'm amazed by your outfits and the whole blog's post style;)=) I'm doing my blog more than a year now, and I've got a half amout of followers than you have and much less support (comments etc.) but I enjoy blogging, taking photos, writing and all that stuff... =)
    PS: have a great time in NYC!!! xx

  36. I've been blogging for around 6 months and have 70 followers - to have as many as you do in a year is absolutely fantastic! I know that disheartening feeling of self consciousness but your blog one was of the ones that pushed me to start my own, your style (in clothes and in writing!) is absolutely brilliant and your gorgeous outfits, photos and tales of day trips, cute cornwall icecreams etc are a dream to read :-) Stick with it I say, you're doing great! There's a reason you got nominated for that award! xxx

    P.S. That top and necklace are almost TOO pretty together, I'm in love!

  37. If it helps, your blog is GENUINELY (and I'm not just saying that because I've met you, promise) one of my favourites, and I really, really hope you don't stop blogging. Ever. Even when you're old and wrinkly. I know I have more followers than you, but I've been going a looot longer, and, in all honesty, I don't know why I do. Your blog is a lot better than mine anyway, and I think to have so many in such a short space of time is pretty good going! Everyone goes through phases, and I think I'm speaking for both of us when I say that our blogs have slowly become a pretty big part of our lives (saddo alert). I'm nto particularly loving mine right now, but at other times I'm happy it's there, so I'm sure you feel the same way? Regardless, text me when you're back, and we can arrange some food with liv (: xxx
